October Favourites

The end of the month is here and it's time for the monthly favourites post.
I'm still loving Fantasy. Basically it's the only fragrance I wore the entire month. It's like the longer I have it, the more I love it. I don't even care if people around me don't like it (although no one said that yet, which is good). It just instantly puts me into a better mood. J'Adore.
I've been loving super big, thick lashes (in combination with a black eyeliner very close to the lash line) and Volume Million Lashes waterproof version does just that to my lashes. You've probably noticed in previous posts that I have naturally quite long and thick lashes, so almost every mascara works for me. But Million Lashes keeps them nice and defined (I hate clumpy lashes) and since it's waterproof it keeps the curl, which for me is very important. The best eyelash curlers I've found is by Tana and I've already put them in loads of favourites, but they really are that good. To take off the waterproof mascara I use Maybelline's make up remover and it works great. It removes all the make up and it doesn't blur my vision, like some oil removers do.
Another thing that I'm absolutely loving is the Healthy Mix foundation. It provides enough coverage for my needs, but looks incredibly natural on the skin. Seriously good stuff.

Healthy Mix is the first discovery of the month, the second one is the dry shampoo by Syoss. I'm really impressed by it. It gives lots of volume and leaves your hair feeling super fresh.
I've hit pan on my Jemma Kidd's highlighter which tells you how much I love it. E.l.f.'s lipstick in Runway Pink is another one of my favourites this month.

I just took the last picture for fun. These are the things I wore yesterday. First is Fantasy, then is Manhattan's Soft Mat Lipcream in 54L (a darker rose-pink shade, very pretty) and on the right is my newest addition the MeMeMe Poppy Tint (review will come soon). In front of Fantasy is my new ring and it's so cute. I just love the colour.

Beachy Waves with Garnier Fructis Surf Hair

I have naturally thick and curly hair, but it lacks definition. Basically without any styling product it mostly looks like a big mess. I've been using Tigi Curls Rock Amplifier for years and it's a really good product for defining natural curls, but I wanted something cheaper. Completely by accident, I've stumbled on some great reviews on MUA for the Garnier Fructis Surf Hair and I was immediately drawn to it. I purchased my pot in Müller where it cost around 4,5 €, which is a really good deal for the amount you get. The scent is a variant of the typical Fructis fruity scent. Personally I really like Fructis scents and this one is no exception.

The product itself is very similar to Tigi's Curls Rock Amplifier. It has the same thick, sticky texture so moderation is the key when using this product. I'm still tinkering with the amount that works best for my hair. I have very long hair and using about two-blueberries-sized amount made my hair a bit sticky. On the other hand, using too little doesn't really define my curls that well. Make sure you use it on wet hair (the wetter, the better), rub the product between you palms and scrunch you hair while your applying it. I always let my hair air dry. If your hair is more straight, put it in a soft bun and just sleep with it (I don't have to, but it usually makes prettier waves). Here is the result (just air dried hair, I didn't put it in a bun here):

The waves/curls last about two-three days, the same as with Tigi's Amplifier, then they just soften a lot, but my hair is still miles away from being straight. Surf Hair is a great product, very comparable to Tigi's Amplifier, just a lot cheaper.

Latest Purchases, Things I'm Loving and Fragrance Lemming

I've made some Lush purchases earlier this month. I bought Vanilla Puff Powder, Dragon's Egg bath bomb and Mange Too massage bar.

I watched some videos and read some reviews of the Dragon's egg bath bomb and I decided to treat myself just for once. I find these bath bomb way too expensive, since you get only one use out of them. Plus I find they all smell so similar to me and the scent isn't even that strong (at least of those I had). Sadly my Dragon's Egg broke when it was still in the bag. As you can see it has an inner core that's a pale orange colour. It's the most beautiful bath bomb I've ever tried. Inside that orange core is golden glitter and the effect it makes is so pretty. The bath water turns orange with lots of gold shimmer. I'm sorry that I didn't get a picture, but there's lots of great reviews and videos online anyway. There are some odd kind of slimy round particles inside, I really don't get the purpose of those. As I already said, all the scents of Lush bath bombs are the same of very similar to me. Dragon's Eggs has a slightly more citrusy scent, though nothing special. It's really expensive at 6,5 € for one bath, but I really like the glitter. For treating yourself once in a while or just as a gift to someone it's a pretty nice bath bomb (definitely my favourite so far) .

Mange Too massage bar is being discontinued (I think it will be replaced by Friends with Benefits). To me it smells similar to Soft Coeur, like chocolate, but with some peppermint. It's quite a big bar, so I hope it will last me a while.

Now that I'm living in two places again, I really didn't want to carry the Silky Underwear powder from one place to another. I got the Vanilla Puff Powder, since I use these powders almost every day. Vanilla Puff has a much stronger scent than Silky Underwear. It's a very different vanilla scent than most are use to. If you had any other product from their Vanilla line, you'll know the scent. I like the scent a lot (I use to absolutely love it, last year when I had the massage bar), but be careful with it. It is one of those scents you get a tired of quickly.

And now a mini product rave. I never liked Syoss products. I had a conditioner once and it was so disappointingly bad that I stayed away from Syoss products for a long time. I wanted to get a dry shampoo and there aren't many of them available on the market here in Slovenia (but things are starting to look better). There are two versions available, one is green for greasy hair and mine is blue for volume. It's fantastic! It gives a lot of volume and it makes your hair feel super fresh. I was worried it might leave white residue powder, but it doesn't. It's completely clear. I just lift the top part of the hair and spray in short burst about 20 cm away. You are supposed to brush it out, but I find you don't really need to do that. The scent is super fresh (in a sort of powdery way) and it lasts. The spray can is really nice and sleek, I love the black and blue combo. The only little issue I have is with the nozzle. Sometimes it starts to leak gas, so you have to either spray again or pull the top a bit so it stops. But all in all I'd give it an A. Highly recommended.

I got one of the three winter edition hand creams by Essence. I choose the Strawberry Cream Cupcake version. It smells like strawberry candy, although it's not the best strawberry scent out there, but it's still nice. I love the texture though. It's relatively thick but it sinks in so fast, like in a couple of seconds. I like it a lot.

And now for my lemming. I looove the new Forbidden Euphoria. Initially on me it smells like pineapple, but  then it develops into a more floral scent closer to the original Euphoria. I absolutely adore it. I'm so getting a bottle.

Lipstick Tag

I've been tagged by Ulmiel from Did someone say nail polish? to do a Lipstick Tag (here is her post). I usually don't do tags, but this one looked really fun. Lipstick is my favourite make up item and I definitely prefer it over lip gloss. I think the majority of my posts here is lipstick themed, I post a lot of swatches and every single shade mentioned or pictured in this post has already been reviewed and swatched. I've also already done a Top 6 Lipsticks post.

How many lipsticks do you have?
I counted 23 proper lipsticks and 7 soft mat lip creams which I consider being a type of lipstick. The ones in the picture are those I have at home. I have E.l.f.'s Runway Pink, Nyx's Istanbul, Make Up Factory 47, Revlon's Pink Pout and Pink About it in Ljubljana (they are the ones I wear the most I guess). Honestly, I thought I had a lot more lipsticks, I'm a bit surprised actually.

When you were a child, did you use your mother's lipsticks?
I did a couple of times. But the shade she owned was horrifyingly ugly, sort of an dark orange shade. I loved playing with make up, but she only had one lipstick and I think it was by Vitaskin (Krka's line of cosmetics, if it even exists now)

How old were you when you bought your first lipstick and what was it?
I think I was 12 or 13. It was by L'Oreal, I don't know the name of the shade (obviously), but it was a very natural pink shade with shimmer. Unfortunately, I lost it in the first month after purchasing it. I bought my second lipstick much later then, I think I was 15 and it was Maybelline's Sugar Plum Ice.

What is your newest lipstick?
Revlon's Pink About it (a matte coral-red shade, click for review).

The most expensive lipstick I have ever bought ...
Rouge Volupte by Yves Saint Laurent. The price is outrageously high, but the packaging is so pretty and luxurious, and the formula is so creamy. However, I don't find the shade range that interesting. Still, I do own two shades - 2 Sensual Silk and 7 Lingerie Pink (review).

And the cheapest?
E.l.f.'s Classy (swatch). And it's not that classy. The packaging is super cheap and I'm not that keen on the formula. Get the ones from their mineral range instead.

What's the most bizarre thing you have ever done with a lipstick?
Nothing. At least I don't remember anything like that. I'm so careful with my lipsticks and I always keep them neatly arranged. I'm boring, I know.

If you had to recommend a lipstick, which brand would you recommend and why?
I'm not going to recommend just one, because there's a lot of good lipsticks. My choices are: Revlon's Matte lipsticks (which have the best matte formula ever), MAC lipsticks (because of the massive amount of shades), E.l.f.'s Mineral lipsticks and IsaDora Jelly Kiss lipsticks. Also try Soft Mat lip creams by Manhattan or Nyx.

Pink or red lipstick?
Pink. But I also love red shades. My favourite red is Soft Mat Lip Cream in 45H by Manhattan (swatch).

Favourite pink?
Without a doubt MAC's Hue (review). I know for most it's a nude shade, but on me it's more a light peachy pink shade. I also love Creme Cup, Nyx's Istanbul and Runway Pink by E.l.f.

Favourite nude?
Gosh Darling hands down (review). If you have the chance to get it, do not hesitate to buy it. E.l.f. Natural Nymph and Mac's Myth are also good nudes.

Favourite unusual shade?
It's not my favourite, but it's unusual. It's Barry M's Touch of Magic. The intensity of the colour is based on your pH levels. On my lips it turns into a hot fuchsia pink (review).

Favourite dark shade?
Barry M's 145. It a super bright fuchsia shade (swatch).

Your biggest lipstick lemming?
I'm not really lemming a new lipstick now (shocking, I know). I do want to get Sleek's Pout Paint in Minx.
I tag everyone who is interested in doing this tag.

Seriously Brilliant Hair Stuff - TiGi S-Factor

About a month an a half ago I ordered three S-Factor hair products: A massive 750ml pot of ''Serious'' Conditioner, Smoothing Lusterizer and Flat Iron Shine Defender. I wanted to test them properly before I wrote any kind of a review and I have to say I am seriously impressed by all three.

First off the hair treatment. ''Serious'' Conditioner comes in two sizes. I ordered the 750 ml version which comes in a massive pot (see the comparison with the Fructis mask in one of the pictures). The packaging has handle and comes with a handy spatula. You get a lot of product for the price which is perfect for us long-haired girls. When I opened the pot, the first thing I noticed was the very unusual scent for a hair mask, but I really love it. It smells like Vademecum Junior Strawberry toothpaste, the one I used as a child. It's a very minty strawberry scent and it actually feels minty in a sense that your hands tingle even after you've washed the product of your hands. I like that a lot.

The consistency is super thick, like a body butter or even toothpaste - another feature I like. I just have a feeling that thicker masks will work a lot better. Even though it's thick, it's easy to apply. I use the spatula to get about a two-walnuts-size amount of product and apply it on a half of my hair and then repeat the process of the other side of hair. I apply the mask to about 2/3 of my length. You're supposed to leave it on for about 3-5 minutes, but I always leave treatments to work longer. I rinse it off after about 15-30 minutes. When you're rinsing it off your hair feels very soft and slippery. Despite it's thickness it rinses of completely and doesn't leave any residue on the hair. I always leave my hair to air dry. Once it's dry, it feels soooo soft. Not a lot of products have that effect on my hair (so far just Redken All Soft conditioner). I have very thick, coarse hair, when people touch it they usually comment if I've used hair spray even though didn't use it. But this conditioner makes a difference. Although they are not super soft, I do notice a significant difference. The scent lingers for about a day, I love how freshly minty my hair smells that day.

''Serious'' Conditioner is some seriously good stuff. I give it A+ rating. I recommend ordering it online, because you can get it a lot cheaper than in hair saloons.

Smoothing Lusterizer is basically a version of After Party, the only differences being in size (SL is 200ml which is double the amount of AP) and scent (though both are very fruity).

As the After Party, Smoothing Lusterizer is a great product for smoothing your hair, taming that annoying frizz and adding shine. The consistency is thinner that After Party's, but both are white pearly creams. The scent is yummy. It's a very candy fruity scent, identical to Kiki candy by Kraš and the same as TiGi's Papayarazzi lotion.

You can use it on wet or dry hair and it doesn't make your hair greasy or weight them down. It leaves your hair just super sleek, shiny and smelling gorgeous. The design of the bottle is just genius and so unique (although so is After Party's), but in terms of functionality it leaves some room for improvement. I've just got a feeling it's going to be a pain getting those last ml out. I've read some reviews that it goes off relatively quickly, so I'm a bit concerned about that. However I would still give it an A+.

Flat Iron Shine Spray Heat Defender is a heat protecting spray with a gorgeous scent. It smells like pears, apples and candy, I just adore the scent. It feels sort of oily so it instantly smooths, gives shine and makes your hair look very healthy (like you'd used a serum such as Orofluido). After straightening or curling your hair, it looks so smooth, even your ends look healthy. Unlike Schwarchkopf's Guardian Angel, which left my hair super sticky, this one performs brilliantly on my dry hair. The packaging is good, the nozzle sprays a fine mist and the clear plastic allows you to see how much is still left. You get only 125ml which is not a lot for the price (I paid 13,74 € on cheapsmells.com), but still the quality is superb. Another A+ product.

All in all I'm very satisfied with these products, despite the slightly higher price (try cheapsmells.com, lookfantastic.com, feelunique.com, etc.,... for lower prices). It's such a massive difference than using regular drugstore product (although you can find some gems in your local drugstore). I highly recommend S-Factor line if your hair need something more. I'll probably stick with S-Factor and get some other products because they really work well for my hair.

Revlon Matte Lipstick in Pink About It

Pink About It is one of the shades in Revlon's Matte lipstick collection (my review of Pink Pout can be found here). I find that Revlon's Matte formula is one of the best ever. These lipsticks feel so smooth and (unlike most other matte formulas) don't dry out my lips. Also the colour lasts for hours and wears off gradually leaving a lovely stain behind. Pink About It is a beautiful coral red shade. It's in my books one of the prettiest coral shades with no orange whatsoever. The packaging is also one of my favourites. It's very sturdy and I love the fact it's matte. It's quite expensive for a drugstore lipstick, I paid 8,81 € in Ilirija, but the quality is simply amazing.

And here are both lipstick I own: Pink Pout on the left and Pink About It on the right.

Thanks for looking!

September Favorites

I'll start with L'Occitane Almond/Amande shower oil and Supple skin oil. I love the scent of the entire Almond line by L'Occitane and this combination is great for dry skin. My only gripe is the price.
Silky Underwear dusting powder by Lush is a product that I reach for almost every day. It's a great multitasking product with a gorgeous light jasmine scent.

La Roche-Posay Kerium shampoo for dry scalp is a fantastic product. The formula is very thick and creamy, which I like at lot. Also unlike other shampoos from pharmacies, this one has a pleasant fruity scent which is similar to Fructis shampoos.
Balea Young Traum Geschöpf shower gel and deodorant have the most amazing scent of ripe peaches. I just adore them, plus they are super cheap.

Recently I purchased Healthy Mix foundation. I already raved about HM serum and that one is still my all-time favourite foundation, but the HM foundation has a slightly heavier coverage (though still provides an extremely natural finish). I intend to wear it on days when I'll need more coverage.
Jemma Kidd Dewy Glow Radiance Creme in Ice Gold is my favourite highlighter. The glow it gives looks so natural and pretty. Simply a brilliant product.
Maybelline's Dream mousse blush in Peach Satin and Dream blush in Peach are both such pretty blushes. I always use them when I want a quick and simple make up look. Another blusher I love is E.l.f. Shy which is just a beautiful, bubble gum pink shade.

Stay All Day long lasting eyeshadows by Essence are just amazing. They apply nice and really stay all day. Absolutely my favourite creme eyeshadows. Again in my favourites are Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Feline Black waterproof mascara and Tana eyelash curlers. The three lipsticks I wore most were MAC's Hue, Make Up Factory True Lipcolor in 47 and E.l.f. Mineral lipstick in Natural Nymph.

My two favourite fragrances right now are Calvin Klein's Euphoria and Fantasy by Britney Spears.
